Don Imus v. Adam "I'm Not Pac Man!" Jones

The debate wages on. Is Imus racist? Is he a white elitist? Does he look down his nose at people of different races?

If he is racist and bigoted, should he be allowed to keep his current job and remain in his profession?

If he was so in need of termination papers for his first firing, why are there not nearly the outcries for his head on a platter now?

These are some of the most interesting questions regarding Don Imus, a morning talk-show host in New York. Recently, as many have heardover and over again, Imus made a comment that can be taken the wrong way, or in the way he claims he intended it. However, when it comes to race, if it is a white man involved, the court of public opinion will convict him of being racist.

First, let me say, I am not racist at all. I work with, talk to, eat with, email, and otherwise relate with people of different races, sexes, sexual orientations, and religions on a daily basis. I do so without hesitation or question. I see people as people first. The next paragraphs, when taken out of the context in which I am writing them, can and may be used to prove the entirety of this paragraph as false. However, I will call the truth as I see it. I hope readers will be mature and intelligent enough to take this commentary as a whole, and not pick and choose statements to fit their own agenda.

Now, I understand that racism and comments about race are offensive to some people. The "nappy-headed hoes" comment that Imus made in reference to the Rutgers women's basketball team was a toke over the line. However, I do not think that people like Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson and the NAACP had the right to demand Imus be removed from his job. Imus, nor any person of any race, should automatically lose their job for a comment with racial undertones.

Imus is not and was not an elected leader. He is and was a mouthpiece hired for entertainment value to draw audience and sponsors. He is an entertainer. He is also an American, and, by proxy, has the right to FREE SPEECH.

Racism is not illegal. It is only against the law when hiring and firing employees, or when accepting or denying applications for housing, benefits, and schools. Otherwise, there is no legal statute that proclaims racism as illegal, either in speech or deed. There is nothing, legally, wrong with racism.

Imus has every right to say how he feels and to express his feelings toward other races. He should not lose his job because he offended people who heard his comments second- or third-hand. If you do not like what a person on the radio, TV, or internet has to say, you have every right to turn the channel...turn it off...or find an outlet yourself to disagree.

I am so tired of the double standard. Any black or hispanic commentator or entertainer can slam whites as much and as often as they choose. Chris Rock slams whites all the time. Carlos Mencia, who picks on everyone, would have been blacklisted for life had he said 1/2 of the things he has had he been white.

Everytime a white person mentions black people or has something bad to day about a black person, that white person is a racist and is scum. White people are made to feel guilty for just being white. I do not agree with Imus's comments, but I do think he has a right to say them.

If you don't like his comments, DON'T LISTEN. I don't listen to him. You don't have to. Ignore him. If he offends enough people, he will lose his job because the advertisers will stop advertising.

I am glad, but perplexed as to why Imus's job is not on the hot seat this time around. The cries from the leftist Uncle Toms (Jackson, Sharpton, Charlie Rangel, etc.) are very muted. Bill O'Reilly brought up a very interesting point as to why the "Fire Imus" chants are so quiet.

Barack Hussein Obama cannot afford a racial controversy to take the stage in the media now through November. A racial divide in America would cost B. Hussein Obama the election. Therefore, all the crazies out there are smart enough to let this slide for now. Even if Hussein Obama was not involved in the controversy, it would cause a social regression that would make it harder for whites to vote for an African American.

So, let me sum up this commentary. When hired as an entertainer who has to compete for ratings, sometimes lines will be crossed. A man should not lose his job because of his desire to compete. He has free speech, after all. And if you don't like what he says, TURN THE CHANNEL! Second, I am very curious as to why the libs like Media Matters aren't out there trying to crusify Imus again. Perhaps O'Reilly is on to something...

GOP and Republican Party: The Time is NOW!!!

In Washington state there is a big uproar over some tactics being used by Republican cadidates for state and national offices. In this state, a candidate for such a position can list either Democrat, Republican, or a party moniker of their choosing. So, what is the deal that has Dems in a uproar over how members of the Republican party are on the ballot?

Well, before I tell you what the issue is, in the event you have not heard or understood, let me explain the logic behind the Republican candidates decision to take advantage of this situation.

In America today, 90% of the media (this statistic is based upon my personal impressions, and not that of any legitimate research...so, take that 90% with a grain of salt...but also, try to prove me wrong!) is 100% anti-Republican, 110% anti-Conservative. (Again, opinion-based percentages...yet, I ask you to prove me wrong!) So, the name...the brand, if you will...of the Republican Party has a negative connotation to it. Since the success of liberalism is based upon the voting public's complete closed-mindedness, the label (R) or Republican will be met with an immediate disdain, dislike, and even hatred, regardless of who that Republican might be.

Many liberals who call themselves Christian would immediately leave the church and declare themselves atheist or agnostic if it were proven on NBC or MSNBC that Jesus Christ is a registered Republican. Laugh. Go ahead. Yet, if you look at the mind-numb, ignorant, carrot-on-a-stick-following manner and mania in which most liberals stick to the word of liberal leaders and media, this is not far from the truth.

So, the point is, liberals, and to a point, middle-of-the-roaders, will automatically reject the Republican label. (Usama Bin Laden could win most any election in the United States with nothing more than a (D) next to his name.) However, Washington state has a loophole that allows a chance to take some of the power away from the R word and possibly see elections based on the issues.

In Washington state, many Republicans are distancing themselves, quietly from the name Republican and running as candidates on the "GOP" ticket. Instead of seeing Joe Schmoe (R), you can see Joe Schmoe (GOP) running against John Doe (D). Its a simple rebranding, like when Kentucky Fried Chicken tried to eliminate the negativity surrounding 'fried' foods by just branding itself as KFC.

Dems, of couse, are in an uproar. Keith Olberman is crying foul (no pun intended with my previous KFC reference). Yet, don't they cry to the highest mountain tops EVERYTIME a Republican candidate gets an advantage?

I am all for it. Perhaps the entire Republican party should follow suit. Perhaps we need to rebrand ourselves. Refer to ourselves as GOP candidates and redefine what conservatism is all about. Not redefine as in change the meaning, but make the meaning more clear and abundant. It is time for the GOP to reunite and remind America what it is that separates us from Dem.

First, we need to renew our strength as the party of financial responsibility. Enough of the pork spending and the earmarks. The GOP can no longer afford to allow congressmen and friends of congressmen get rich off tax payer dollars. We have to fight the wasteful spending and invest our money into defense, energy, and education.

Second, we need to make a pact with America, and by proxy our closest allies, that we will be the world leader in creating new, clean, renewable energy sources for the present, as well as for generations to come. In that pact, we will wean ourselves off of foreign fuels and rely only upon those barrels we get from our friends and those that we drill ourselves. We need to push the fuel cell technologies for transportation. We need to build nuclear reactors to provide electricity, especially in our population centers, to prevent power outages that kill the young and old.

We have technology far superior to China and many other oil-drilling nations. Yet, China is drilling off the coast of Cuba, right in our backyard. We cannot sit idly by and let China's drilling suck out all the oil in the Gulf of Mexico seabed. Our technology is so advanced, thanks to the 'evil' oil companies, that we can be in and out of ANWR in setting up the drilling rigs and pipelines with virtually zero disruption to any species' mating seasons. In fact, the warmth of the pipelines in that area may create better survival and mating situations than with the current harsh winters.

We can be good stewards of the Earth and try to respect the beauty and fragility of the world's eco-systems. We have the ability. No matter what a person's stance is on the theory (YES, THEORY) of Global Warming, we can all agree that we should take better care of the planet. However, we must also take care of our economies and national security issues.

The Republican party desperately needs a rebranding. It might be wise for John McCain and the entire party to use the example in the great northwest and use the letters GOP as a catapoult to a rebranding. November 4, 2008, is D-Day for the GOP...D meaning either Do or Die...

Something has got to give!

Gas is $5 a gallon in California. The national average is now at $4 a gallon. Crude Oil jumped $11 a barrel on Friday alone.

This is ridiculous!

When will Americans unite and stand up to our own government?

When will we DEMAND that we utilize our own resources and technologies?

When will our cries be heard in Washington?

It is time that we unite and DEMAND without equivocation that we drill here, drill now. Cuba is allowing China to set up shop in our backyard. Why can't we drill in the Gulf of Mexico, too?

We have better technology that can protect he environment from spills and slicks and overall upheaval of the Eco-system. The giant oil companies have spend billions of dollars researching and developing new and better ways to extract oil from beneath the surface. They are proving their progress in that absolutely zero oil rigs in the international waters of the Gulf of Mexico leaked during Katrina. Katrina is the strongest storm to hit the US in a long time, the strongest to hit that particular region in generations. And yet, no oil leaked from the rigs in place owned by the big, bad oil companies.

Don't you think they could extract oil from ANWR and off the coast of the US with the same sturdy technology? Even taking greater care of the Eco-system in each drilling location?

It is far past time for the United States to become energy independent. We should not have to rely on the good will of pseudo-friends like OPEC, Saudi Arabia, and other oil-producers. It is time we tap into our own resources.

Our economy will start to collapse in a matter of months. With energy costs this high, we are on the verge of a new depression. It is time for all Americans to get on the phone, to email, to snail-mail, and any other possible way contact our leaders in Washington, DC, and DEMAND change. Now.

We need to drill and refine our own oil. The second the trucks start rolling to drill our own oil and leave OPEC in the dust, the price of crude oil will plummet. From $150 a barrel to $70, $60, or even less. I guarantee it. Everyone who knows anything about the oil market will tell you that the second the United States sends trucks and equipment to Alaska, off the coast of Florida, and other beds of untapped crude, the very second, oil will drop in price because the OPEC countries will be desperate to keep the US as a customer and prevent an American profit on their market.

Once we pass legislation that allows the extraction of our own oil, we need to then work with, and not against, the oil companies and power companies to develop a 10-year, a 25-year, and a 50-year plan for complete energy independence and an elimination of fossil fuels.

Wind turbines, nuclear power plants, solar power, and all the other "green" technologies need to be pursued with a vengeance even if oil drops in price. Oil will dry up. Oil will rise once again. We need to plan and protect the American economy and American families from suffering as they are now.

It is time. I believe the 1980's should have been the real decade of energy independence, but we never took the time to really look ahead. We have wasted over 30 years since the gas rations and oil shortages and have made no real progress to prevent this economic disaster.

Newt Gingrich is a major figurehead in a new campaign to get the word out and organize Americans to lead us out of this trying time. We need to show the elected leaders that they are on the hot seat. We need solutions from those in power, or we need to elect people who will create those solutions.

Visit American Solutions and sign the petition, follow the links, and email your elected officials.

We cannot wait for them to do it on their own. It is now time. Get off your laurels and join the movement and become a part of the solution.

About Me...And This Blog Site...

My name is David A. Ebert, the oldest of two siblings produced by my parents, Leah and David G. Ebert. We are all Republicans, but I take it a toke or two...well, closer to 10 tokes...further than my parents,

I am very much a Right Wing Conservative. I am a Reagan Conservative. I believe Americans, in general, are smarter than elected officials in Washington, DC. We should be more in charge than the Government.

We, as individuals and families, should have more responsibility over our own, hard-earned money and not send more and more and more taxes to the out-of-touch politicians. I believe the government is there to serve us, and not us to serve them.

I believe in America's greatness and that, overall, we are the most generous, forgiving, intelligent, and genuinely decent country in the world. I also believe that we are the most powerful nation in the history of the world, but do not use that power to hold over the collective heads of other nations.

I believe that low taxes, intelligent spending of those tax revenues, strong initiatives on defense and education, and small government influence on the day-to-day lives of Americans are some of the most important ideals related to how the US should be operated.I believe in the freedoms granted by the US Constitution. I believe that judges should uphold and interpret the laws as written in the US Constitution, and not refer to any foreign legislation to make their historic decisions.

I believe the First Amendment, as well as the entire Bill of Rights, are the most important laws this world has ever seen.

I believe abortion is WRONG. I believe that homosexuality is WRONG. I believe that allowing anyone to publicly debate the possibility of lowering the age of consent, especially for young boys to consent to older men, is a tragedy of morality. I believe that organizations like NAMBLA should be publicly shunned and not given a platform to spew their harmful and dangerous rhetoric.

I believe there is a sad lacking in the ability of our nation to appreciate and accept self responsibility. We, as a nation, blame daddy, racism, sexism, classism, mommy, the mean teacher, the mean little league coach, the loud mouthed uncle, the financial status of the neighborhood in which we grew up in, and a million and one other reasons why we do not succeed. How often do we, as a nation, take the blame for our own mistakes? How often do you hear someone accept responsibility for their own mistakes? How often?

I am conservative. I am worried about the future of the country and the planet, especially if O-BOMB-A or Billary Clinton make it to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I will start posting my fears, my hopes, my ideas as they all relate to news and politics. I hope to open some eyes and change some opinions with my writings. Most of all, I hope you will read my words and be inspired to find the truth...and not rely on Chris Matthews or Keith Olberman or Katie Couric or Matt Lauer for your opinions. I hope you will break the mold and do something unreal...unexpected...do something that O-BOMB-A and Billary are afraid of you doing...

THINK FOR YOURSELF.
