GOP and Republican Party: The Time is NOW!!!

In Washington state there is a big uproar over some tactics being used by Republican cadidates for state and national offices. In this state, a candidate for such a position can list either Democrat, Republican, or a party moniker of their choosing. So, what is the deal that has Dems in a uproar over how members of the Republican party are on the ballot?

Well, before I tell you what the issue is, in the event you have not heard or understood, let me explain the logic behind the Republican candidates decision to take advantage of this situation.

In America today, 90% of the media (this statistic is based upon my personal impressions, and not that of any legitimate research...so, take that 90% with a grain of salt...but also, try to prove me wrong!) is 100% anti-Republican, 110% anti-Conservative. (Again, opinion-based percentages...yet, I ask you to prove me wrong!) So, the name...the brand, if you will...of the Republican Party has a negative connotation to it. Since the success of liberalism is based upon the voting public's complete closed-mindedness, the label (R) or Republican will be met with an immediate disdain, dislike, and even hatred, regardless of who that Republican might be.

Many liberals who call themselves Christian would immediately leave the church and declare themselves atheist or agnostic if it were proven on NBC or MSNBC that Jesus Christ is a registered Republican. Laugh. Go ahead. Yet, if you look at the mind-numb, ignorant, carrot-on-a-stick-following manner and mania in which most liberals stick to the word of liberal leaders and media, this is not far from the truth.

So, the point is, liberals, and to a point, middle-of-the-roaders, will automatically reject the Republican label. (Usama Bin Laden could win most any election in the United States with nothing more than a (D) next to his name.) However, Washington state has a loophole that allows a chance to take some of the power away from the R word and possibly see elections based on the issues.

In Washington state, many Republicans are distancing themselves, quietly from the name Republican and running as candidates on the "GOP" ticket. Instead of seeing Joe Schmoe (R), you can see Joe Schmoe (GOP) running against John Doe (D). Its a simple rebranding, like when Kentucky Fried Chicken tried to eliminate the negativity surrounding 'fried' foods by just branding itself as KFC.

Dems, of couse, are in an uproar. Keith Olberman is crying foul (no pun intended with my previous KFC reference). Yet, don't they cry to the highest mountain tops EVERYTIME a Republican candidate gets an advantage?

I am all for it. Perhaps the entire Republican party should follow suit. Perhaps we need to rebrand ourselves. Refer to ourselves as GOP candidates and redefine what conservatism is all about. Not redefine as in change the meaning, but make the meaning more clear and abundant. It is time for the GOP to reunite and remind America what it is that separates us from Dem.

First, we need to renew our strength as the party of financial responsibility. Enough of the pork spending and the earmarks. The GOP can no longer afford to allow congressmen and friends of congressmen get rich off tax payer dollars. We have to fight the wasteful spending and invest our money into defense, energy, and education.

Second, we need to make a pact with America, and by proxy our closest allies, that we will be the world leader in creating new, clean, renewable energy sources for the present, as well as for generations to come. In that pact, we will wean ourselves off of foreign fuels and rely only upon those barrels we get from our friends and those that we drill ourselves. We need to push the fuel cell technologies for transportation. We need to build nuclear reactors to provide electricity, especially in our population centers, to prevent power outages that kill the young and old.

We have technology far superior to China and many other oil-drilling nations. Yet, China is drilling off the coast of Cuba, right in our backyard. We cannot sit idly by and let China's drilling suck out all the oil in the Gulf of Mexico seabed. Our technology is so advanced, thanks to the 'evil' oil companies, that we can be in and out of ANWR in setting up the drilling rigs and pipelines with virtually zero disruption to any species' mating seasons. In fact, the warmth of the pipelines in that area may create better survival and mating situations than with the current harsh winters.

We can be good stewards of the Earth and try to respect the beauty and fragility of the world's eco-systems. We have the ability. No matter what a person's stance is on the theory (YES, THEORY) of Global Warming, we can all agree that we should take better care of the planet. However, we must also take care of our economies and national security issues.

The Republican party desperately needs a rebranding. It might be wise for John McCain and the entire party to use the example in the great northwest and use the letters GOP as a catapoult to a rebranding. November 4, 2008, is D-Day for the GOP...D meaning either Do or Die...

About Me...And This Blog Site...

My name is David A. Ebert, the oldest of two siblings produced by my parents, Leah and David G. Ebert. We are all Republicans, but I take it a toke or two...well, closer to 10 tokes...further than my parents,

I am very much a Right Wing Conservative. I am a Reagan Conservative. I believe Americans, in general, are smarter than elected officials in Washington, DC. We should be more in charge than the Government.

We, as individuals and families, should have more responsibility over our own, hard-earned money and not send more and more and more taxes to the out-of-touch politicians. I believe the government is there to serve us, and not us to serve them.

I believe in America's greatness and that, overall, we are the most generous, forgiving, intelligent, and genuinely decent country in the world. I also believe that we are the most powerful nation in the history of the world, but do not use that power to hold over the collective heads of other nations.

I believe that low taxes, intelligent spending of those tax revenues, strong initiatives on defense and education, and small government influence on the day-to-day lives of Americans are some of the most important ideals related to how the US should be operated.I believe in the freedoms granted by the US Constitution. I believe that judges should uphold and interpret the laws as written in the US Constitution, and not refer to any foreign legislation to make their historic decisions.

I believe the First Amendment, as well as the entire Bill of Rights, are the most important laws this world has ever seen.

I believe abortion is WRONG. I believe that homosexuality is WRONG. I believe that allowing anyone to publicly debate the possibility of lowering the age of consent, especially for young boys to consent to older men, is a tragedy of morality. I believe that organizations like NAMBLA should be publicly shunned and not given a platform to spew their harmful and dangerous rhetoric.

I believe there is a sad lacking in the ability of our nation to appreciate and accept self responsibility. We, as a nation, blame daddy, racism, sexism, classism, mommy, the mean teacher, the mean little league coach, the loud mouthed uncle, the financial status of the neighborhood in which we grew up in, and a million and one other reasons why we do not succeed. How often do we, as a nation, take the blame for our own mistakes? How often do you hear someone accept responsibility for their own mistakes? How often?

I am conservative. I am worried about the future of the country and the planet, especially if O-BOMB-A or Billary Clinton make it to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I will start posting my fears, my hopes, my ideas as they all relate to news and politics. I hope to open some eyes and change some opinions with my writings. Most of all, I hope you will read my words and be inspired to find the truth...and not rely on Chris Matthews or Keith Olberman or Katie Couric or Matt Lauer for your opinions. I hope you will break the mold and do something unreal...unexpected...do something that O-BOMB-A and Billary are afraid of you doing...

THINK FOR YOURSELF.
